So many adventures. So few times.

My life is pretty dull. I play with a toddler, watch a lot of Yo Gabba Gabba and experiment with the crock pot. I have no bed time and I find humor in Laffy Taffy jokes. Conan O'Brien is my anti-drug.

Slow down, you're moving too fast

I cannot believe I haven't updated since February 15th. I also cannot believe my daughter will be a year old as of tomorrow. This time 1 year ago, I was miserably pregnant. I had a pulled muscle in my stomach that literally made me wince and yelp in pain with every step I took, or every time I laid down at night. The only way I was comfortable (and I use that term VERY loosely) was when I was sitting down on the couch with my feet up.

A year ago today, I finally decided to start reading Mockingjay, the third book in the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. I had read the first two a year or more earlier and had pre-purchased Mockingjay about a month before it was released. Once I received Mockingjay, I was so upset the series would be over that I set it aside. Wisely, April 10th, 2011 I decided I should probably start reading it, since I might not have more time.

So I sat out on my back porch during an unseasonably warm Sunday morning and started reading. My feet were propped up on another patio chair. The action picked up, and I had a contraction.
Seven minutes later, I had another.
Another after thirteen minutes.
And then another after two.

All day long, as I read this book I had random, sharp contractions. As the tension mounted in the book, the contractions would get closer together. Then they'd slow down.

Long story short, around midnight the contractions completely tapered off after a slowing evening. At 3:30 am, the fat baby woke me up via a sharp, long contraction... and then another... and another. It was time.

At 12:05 pm, Emma Elizabeth entered this world... and she's hardly stopped screaming since.

Happy first birthday to my squishy, chunky, silly, hyper, smart, insanely gorgeous baby toddler!
