So many adventures. So few times.

My photo
My life is pretty dull. I play with a toddler, watch a lot of Yo Gabba Gabba and experiment with the crock pot. I have no bed time and I find humor in Laffy Taffy jokes. Conan O'Brien is my anti-drug.

Reality

My hair and makeup isn't done. I have a red welt under my eye from where my three year old kicked me angrily in the face. I'm up 6 pounds in three weeks.

Tommy's eyes are red because he is a hot mess. He is hardly sleeping and is full of snot for the first time in his 8 months of life. He's rocking a low grade fever and cannot handle being put down for more than a few minutes. And now we're on formula full time so the mom guilt is eating me alive.

Emma is eating a lunch of deli meat, unwashed grapes, carrot sticks and Cheez-it's at our crumb-covered table. She's refusing to wear pants or a sweatshirt despite the cool weather.

The path between my perch on the couch and the table is riddled with toys and dog hair and stains from mud tracked into the house.

Moms, if you are feeling like you just can't get your shit together today, I promise you that you aren't alone. It's easy to fall into the 'selfie' trap of only showing the successes and perfection. But life isn't perfect - nothing is. No one is.

You aren't alone.

  1. *hugs* you accurately described my life about 8years ago. :-) Enjoy the cuddles with your baby, admire the independent girl rocking her style, and remember: tonight after they are sleeping you have earned an adult beverage of your choice! As usual, I love reading your blog Buffy!

  3. Nice. Let's see, I don't have much to complain about today, but even though it was a fairly easy day (we are still in newborn vacation sort of phase), I am so tired right now, the hurt really bad behind your eyes don't even know if I could enjoy watching tv sort of tired.
My friend is doing a kind of anti "100 happy days" thing on FB where she posts the shit real moments every day for a month. I love the idea! Moms needs to commiserate, not compete.
