So many adventures. So few times.

My life is pretty dull. I play with a toddler, watch a lot of Yo Gabba Gabba and experiment with the crock pot. I have no bed time and I find humor in Laffy Taffy jokes. Conan O'Brien is my anti-drug.

And there was a playdate.

Emma and I traveled down to a Chicago suburb on Thursday to have a playdate with our friends Annabelle and Mel.

Emma woke up in such a great mood, I knew it was going to be a good day.

I knew it was a cold day so I got Emma bundled up in her car seat. She's always somewhere between loving car rides and hating getting strapped in.

It was so stinking cold out! Good thing the 90's station had some Britney to keep us warm.

Once we arrived, the girls immediately started playing.

Eventually we headed home. I thought Emma would be zonked from all the hardcore playing, but she felt she had enough energy to help with laundry.

Ultimately, a spaghetti dinner and a nice bath were enough to get her to zonk out... for 13 hours!!

My Little 9'er

Emma is 9 months today - where has the time gone?! It's so cliche, but she's growing so fast. At our appointment this morning, her pediatrician seemed very surprised and pleased that she's pulling herself up constantly and eating solids like a rockstar.

7 months...

5 months

2 months... sigh...

2 weeks old.

It's so exciting to be three quarters of a year old!

Best meal ever!?

I'll make this short and sweet. I made an amazing[ly simple] dinner last night that took about as much effort as sitting down on the couch.

I tossed a large frozen chicken breast into the slow cooker with ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, siracha, garlic powder and some cumin. That's right, homemade BBQ sauce. 8 hours later, I shredded up the chicken and made a batch of kale chips.

Kale chips: rinse head of kale, trim the ribs out and cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces. Dry well! I don't do so good with this last night and it makes a difference. Spritz with olive oil, throw on a dash of sea salt, spread out over a lined cookie sheet and bake at 375 for 10-15 minutes, until the edges turn brown and crispy.
Um, yum. Healthy and ridiculously easy.

So between the shredded BBQ chicken sandwiches and the kale chips, my husband declared it the bet dinner I'd ever made... And it was under 500 calories! SCORE!

Also, my child has decided to go nuts in the last 24 hours. If she's awake, she's screaming. Ditka. Over, and over, and over...

My beautiful [bruised] baby

Emma is all bruised up.While home with a babysitter (who I trust 112%) last night, she tried pulling herself up on the coffe table and slipped, bashing her eye. The worst part is that I didn't notice until tonight that on the other side of her face, under a long scratch, is another little bruise on her cheek.

Ugh.

She obviously wasn't feeling well today. This morning she napped a full hour. That's great, and that's normal for her. This afternoon she slept for another hour, shuffled around, had her afternoon bottle and fell asleep in my arms for ANOTHER TWO HOURS. Absolutely abnormal.

Poor munchkin. This whole "growing up" thing isn't going her way at all. Thank God for bubble baths.
